    The Day Program is dedicated to supporting individuals living with HIV who are also navigating challenges related to alcohol or substance use. Our primary goal is to empower participants to achieve and maintain Viral Load Suppression, thereby improving their overall health and quality of life.

    Through a comprehensive and compassionate approach, we offer individual counseling and a variety of educational group sessions designed to address the complex needs of our participants.

  • Clean Day For Dirty Day

    Substance Abuse remains a significant public health issue, affecting individuals, families, and communities. “Clean Day for A Dirty” is a harm reduction program aimed at reducing the negative consequences associated with substance abuse. This program focuses on providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals struggling with addiction, promoting healthier lifestyles, and reducing the stigma associated with substance use disorders.

    Program participants have access to recovery coaches, peer specialists, substance abuse counselors, support services, group sessions, nutritious meals, and case management. The goal is to support recovery and provide education that promotes viral load suppression.

    Eligibility

    Participants must meet the following criteria to qualify for our program:

    • Be 18 years of age or older.
    • Have a confirmed HIV diagnosis.
    • Currently struggle with a substance use disorder.
    • Reside within the Atlanta metropolitan area.

    Rules

    Participants are encouraged to participate in groups according to the groups guidelines.

  • SUPPORT SERVICES

    HTL provides non-medical case management to assist program participants with:

    • Birth certificates
    • IDs
    • Accessing public entitlements
    • Peer Buddy System
    • Peer Support Recovery Coaches

    MEAL PROGRAM

    Here’s To Life aims to achieve viral load suppression through medication adherence. We offer daily nutritious meals, including options for vegans and vegetarians, along with nutrition education and cooking classes. Participants are welcome to drop in for lunch.

  • Each group is facilitated by trained professionals and/or persons with the learned experience to foster personal growth, emotional healing, and behavioral change.

    Programs like ours, which combine substance use recovery with HIV care and psychosocial support (e.g., trauma-informed care, anger management, and health education), are aligned with best practices shown to improve outcomes such as:

    • Increased retention in care
    • Improved medication adherence
    • Higher rates of viral load suppression
    • Reduced risky behaviors

    (All enrolled particapants and potential participants may obtain group information by reaching out to a counsleor or recovery coach.)

    Process Group

    Provides a safe environment for participants to share experiences and insights while learning from one another.

    Pharmacology

    Educates participants on medications, their effects, and how they relate to recovery and health management.

    Trauma-Informed Care

    Addresses the impact of trauma on individuals, helping them develop coping strategies and resilience.

    Sexuality Stage Model

    Explores the stages of sexuality and identity development, particularly relevant to the LGBTQ/SGL community.

    Inner Child

    Helps participants reconnect with and heal their inner child, fostering emotional growth and self-discovery.

    Anger Management

    Teaches skills and techniques for effectively managing and expressing anger.

    Goal Setting

    Empowers participants to define and achieve personal goals, aiding their overall growth and recovery.

    Health & Wellness

    Focuses on promoting physical and mental well-being through various health practices.

    Healthy Sexual Behaviors

    Offers guidance on maintaining safe, consensual, and fulfilling sexual relationships.

    Budgeting

    Teaches financial literacy and effective money management.
